Addisu Gobena Defends His Title at the 2024 Ethio Telecom Great Bokoji Run

The 3rd edition of the Great Bokoji Run, staged by Great Ethiopian Run in collaboration with Ministry of Tourism, took place in the town of Champions, Bokoji. The event aimed to inspire young athletes by recognizing Bokoji as a significant source of the country’s athletics. Additionally, the run aimed to promote Bokoji as a potential tourism destination and investment opportunity.

In the 12km elite men’s category, Addisu Gobena, the winner of the Dubai Marathon, successfully defended his title with a time of 00:39:04 followed by Lemi Alemu and Aman Kadi.

The 12km elite women’s category saw Tigist Dejene clocking 00:45:57 to claim victory, with Meskerem Assefa and Adanech Mesfin following closely behind.

The event also featured an under-15 championship and a children’s race, further giving opportunities for young Athletes.

Participants from Addis Ababa traveled to Bokoji to take part in the race. Furthermore, on the eve of the race, a hiking was organized, providing participants and visitors with an opportunity to explore the beautiful natural landscapes of Bokoji.

The successful staging of the 2024 Ethio Telecom Great Bokoji Run not only celebrated the athletic prowess of Ethiopia but also highlighted the town of Bokoji as a potential tourism destination.
