Aim

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Great Ethiopian Run raises funding under the umbrella campaign named “Running for A Cause” using the popularity of its annual 10km staged in November.

This annual campaign is aimed at helping different local charitable organizations selected by the concerned government authority.

Great Ethiopian Run works mainly with the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs to identify charitable organizations to benefit from each year’s funding raised through the annual Great Ethiopian Run International 10km.   

Over 30 million birr has been raised and distributed for the past 22 years. Few of the beneficiary organizations from the past are Mary Joy, Abebech Gobena, Tigray, Amhara, Oromia and Debube Women, Children and Youth Affairs, Nehmiya Autism Center, Mekedoniya Elderly Support, Dire Dawa Women Association, Joyfull Life, Sele Enat Mahber, Ethiopian Diabetic Association, Addis Ababa Women Association, Waghemera, Grace centre for children and families etc

2023 Beneficiaries and Fundraising Target

Every year, two or three charitable organizations benefit from this campaign. In 2023, Great Ethiopian Run will collaborate with UNDP and Ministry of Women and Social Affairs and will support a cause name Rebuild Her Business are selected:

“Rebuild Her Business” is a crowdfunding campaign supporting women-led businesses that faced the destruction of property, interruption in the supply change and inaccessible markets. Each businesswoman is expected to receive US$500 to support her business.
