IFH Engineering (formerly operating under the name ‘CRBC Addis Engineering’) celebrates 20 years of work in Ethiopia by sponsoring the 2022 IFH Relay Races to be staged on 17th July 2022.

The races will take place on a new stretch of road completed by IFH from Pushkin Square in Sarbet to the Gotera flyover on the south side of Addis.

IFH Engineering first sponsored these relays in 2004 to mark the completion of the eastern stretch of the Addis Ababa Ring Road from Kaliti to Meganagna. After the third edition of the relay in 2006, the event was moved to other locations in the city to mark the opening of other new roads built by the company in collaboration with the Addis Ababa City Roads Authority (AACRA).

The most recent edition, the 16th in what had become an annual series, took place three years ago in 2019 before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the past twenty years IFH Engineering has gained a reputation for the speed at which it has completed projects in road and bridge construction. Its projects include the Addis Ababa Ring Road, the Ethio-China Friendship Road in Wolo Sefer, the Bole International Airport Runway Upgrading and Expansion Project, the Megenagna to Ayat Road, the Megenagna to Torhailoch Road, and the Meskel Square to Kaliti Road.

IFH Engineering General Manager Mr. Xiao Zhiqiang said ’’Over the past twenty years we have been closely involved in the city’s economic development. Our aim has been to make Ethiopia’s capital city a better place in which to live and improve transport connections throughout the city.’’

The annual relay races has been not only a platform for team building among participants but also works on creating awareness on road safety.

Around 150 teams of 8 runners representing a range of business and other organizations are expected to take part in this year’s relay races.
