At a Gala Dinner taking place at the Hyatt Regency on Tuesday 16th July, Aletheia Conway-Hughes gave a keynote address entitled “Corporate Wellness: why it’s important and how companies in Ethiopia can get ahead.” Among the more than 250 guests at the event had representatives from over 100 organisations whose employees have been among the 920,000 participants who have taken part in races staged by Great Ethiopian Run over the past 23 years.

Conway-Hughes has worked in the field of Corporate Wellness for over twenty years. Her company “Founded Wellness” offers advice and runs training programmes and gives advice to a range of companies in the United Kingdom. She also coordinates an online “Working Well” community which provides resources for employees in private and government organisations.

The idea for “Wellness Inspiration” evening came from Great Ethiopian’s long association with participant organisations in Addis Ababa. As their Managing Director Dagmawit Amare explains: “we have developed strong relationships with organisations who regularly take part in our races here in Addis Ababa. While recognising their commitment to our events, we also know that our races can be great opportunities to further employee wellbeing. The event will further elevate the importance of this issue.”

At the event a number of organisations received “Gold Customer” awards for their longstanding involvement in races staged by Great Ethiopian Run.
