The 2022 PlayMatters Children race and running for a cause fundraising launch press conference held today. The children’s race, which will be held day before, the 22nd edition of the Great Ethiopian Run International 10km with 40,000 participants’ will be held this year in collaboration with the PlayMatters project.
The main message of the race is related to the PlayMatters project which is working together with the Ministry of Education and regional school offices to provide professional development opportunities for teachers on student-oriented teaching methods which is, through training by jointly designing the teaching documents they use when teaching; through continuous teaching and peer support platforms where teachers can share experiences and learn from each other. ‘
The PlayMatters project seeks to improve the overall education, safety and development of refugee and host community children using student-centered teaching methods. PlayMatters has been operating in refugee camps and communities in Gambella, Benishangul, Afar and Somali regions in Ethiopia for the past two years.
In addition to this, the Running for a cause campaign, which started today, in this year, as usual in cooperation with the Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, 3 beneficiary organizations were selected, namely Action for Development (AFD), Imagine1day and Mujejeguwa Loka, Women’s Development Associations (MLWDA).
Although the T-shirt sale for the next race has ended early, the Great Ethiopian Run has put some T-shirts on sale to support the Running for a cause campaign. Great Ethiopian Run offers participants to register and use this opportunity to help others with their run.
The 2022 PlayMatters Children Race T-shirt sale will start on October 12th at the Great Ethiopian Run office, and the registration price will be 250, including the T-shirt and a medal at the end of the race.
