4 April 2022 – Registration starts today for the 2022 Europe Day Children’s Races which will be staged on Sunday 8th May 2022, one day before Europe Day (9th May). The event is held in connection with worldwide celebrations for Europe Day marking “peace and unity in Europe’’ at the end of the Second World War.
For the past 16 years Great Ethiopian Run has been organizing races for children. The Europe Day Races were started in 2006 and were staged annually until the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020.
This year the event comprises races for children under four age categories: under 5, 8, 11 and 14, for both boys and girls. Children from international and local Ethiopian schools are invited to take part with a total of 2000 participants expected on the day. The races will be staged at the Ethiopian Youth Sport Academy where other entertainment activities will also be organized.
