There is also an elite half-marathon race with 20,000 birr for both men’s and women’s winners.

One of the missions of the Great Ethiopian Run is to encourage healthy living for citizens across Ethiopia. To that end, it started organising a weekly training programme for four weeks leading up to the race day which were undertaken by employees at the Hawassa Industrial Park as well as other local people in the city.

The title sponsor TAL Apparel made a big effort this year to encourage the participation of other partners for the betterment of the race. Haile Resort Hotel was the race HQ, hosting participants over race weekend and the pasta party dinner on the Saturday evening.
