15 March 2015 – Over 20 Ethiopian “Icon Women” grace the annual Women First 5km run inspiring thousands of participants. A young athlete by the name of Genet Abdurkadir from Federal Prisons club has beaten experienced athletes like Alemitu Hawi & Atsede Bayisa finishing the 5km race in 16:12 (min:sec) followed by Makeda Abdella (16:16) & Bonesh Tamene(16:17).
13 February 2015 – Registration for the annual women only event, Women First 5km organized by Great Ethiopian Run will open on Monday 16 February 2015. At a press conference held at Capital Hotel and Spa, official race hotel of the event yesterday, organizers announced they will have a maximum participation number of 10,000 and over 1,200 participants have already reserved their place to take part in the event which will take place on Sunday 15 March 2015.
26 January 2015 – Great Ethiopian Run official fundraising under the slogan “Running for a Cause” raised 1.3 million birr from the 10km international event that took place on 23rd November 2014.
Great Ethiopian Run’s races once again proved to be stepping stones for upcoming stars. The senior races in the 32nd Ethiopian International Cross Country Championships held at Janmeda on Sunday was dominated by athletes who have passed through one or more of Great Ethiopian Run’s Races.
13 January 2015 – Tsegahun Deneke Shines again at MDG Gambella race this year. He was the winner when Great Ethiopian Run organized its second race in Gambella in 2011. The race was staged under the slogan “Empower Women, Empower a Nation” and comprises a community outreach program on the eve (Saturday) where live music, interviews and a short film were shown. On Sunday 5.5km mass race and 1.2km children took place.
